The groundbreaking new web series “31” is unleashing on audiences at 3:31 p.m. ET on March 31, 2011. Without revealing the plot, the supernatural thriller is already whetting appetites with an undeniable hook: 31 31-second mind-blowing webisodes in 31 days at 3:31 p.m. ET every day.
“31” is transforming the way web series are created. “Never before has a story been told in such a way. It has the story arc of a film with the structure of television, told cliffhanger by cliffhanger, within the attention span of the Internet. It’s the best of all three worlds,” says writer-director L.C. Cruell.
The producers expect the daily cliffhangers, paired with the interactivity of fans through social media channels like Facebook and Twitter, to make online water cooler conversation about the web series irresistible. “The mystery of the script drew me in during the first 10 pages. I had to jump on board,” reveals Ben Bryant. The actor joined “31” within 30 minutes of reading the script.
The web series continues Cruell’s ascent to the pantheon of successful writer-directors. A winner of a Shriekfest award among many others, finding a crew for her next venture behind the director’s chair was easy. Even more impressive is the budget for the entire 31-day web series event: $390.
